A moment of Thanks!

A Moment of Thanks!!!!

I just want to take this time to say thank you to my wonderful classmates at Walden University! The class Foundations: Early Childhood has been a wonderful experience! I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful support system. I also want to say thank you for teaching me so many things and inspiring me in so many ways. I look forward to the classes that we may share in the future. Good luck on your journey in this amazing masters degree program!

Reviewing the code of ethics

“We shall honor and respect our responsibilities to colleagues while upholding the dignity and autonomy of colleagues and maintaining collegial interprofessional and intraprofessional relationships.” (DEC, 2009)
As professionals we may find it difficult to always keep a smile of our face and be nice to everyone. Though we may find it difficult it is part of being professional to uphold a good image and help your colleagues.
“We shall continually be aware of issues challenging the field of early childhood special education and advocate for changes in laws, regulations, and policies leading to improved outcomes and services for young children with disabilities and their families.” (DEC, 2009)

I-2.4
“—To listen to families, acknowledge and build upon their strengths and competencies, and learn from families as we support them in their task of nurturing children.” (NAEYC, 2005)
Every family is important and deserves the respect of being acknowledged and listened to. As professionals this is very important in gaining a respectable relationship between you and you and the families within your classroom.
I-2.5
“—To respect the dignity and preferences of each family and to make an effort to learn about its structure, culture, language, customs, and beliefs.” (NAEYC, 2005)
Every family is different. In whatever situation they are in they deserve respect and understanding. It is not our place to form opinions about their family structure, culture, customs, or beliefs. Having an understanding of these things will however help you to understand the child as they are.
