In watching SpongeBob I observed a lot of Homosexual
comments and tendencies. Even Bert and Ernie off of Sesame Street share a bed.
I have often heard people speculate that they were gay. Homosexuality seems to
be promoted at times through movies, books, and toys. Books such as: Uncle Bobby's Wedding, by Sarah S.
Brannen. This book is about a little guiene pig that learns that her uncle is
marrying a man. I have never really used
books that teach homosexuality because I don’t feel school is the place to. I
do read books about being your own self and no matter who you are you should be
accepted. I have often had boys in my class that loved dress up. I didn’t have
boy dress up shoes but I did have heels and purses in the center. I found that a
lot of boys played with them so I added some boy shoes. I had a couple of
parents complain because their child was playing with girl toys. “...it
is still important to acknowledge the existence of families with gay and
lesbian parents, so that children are prepared to be respectful when they do
meet people who are lesbian or gay” (Laureate Education. INC. 2011).
